Elite Martial Arts Academy, LLC, located in Holden, Louisiana was founded in 2009 by chief instructor, Boyd Cochennic. It is a black belt accredited school which offers classes in traditional Isshinryu Karate and Kobudo (weapons), Jiu-Jitsu, and Combat Striking / Kickboxing for a real mixed martial arts program.

The style of karate taught is Isshinryu - (one heart/one mind) introduced in 1954 by Tatsuo Shimabuku. Sensei Shimabuku studied both the Shorin-Ryu and Goju-Ryu systems; studied Shorin-Ryu-Ryu under Master Chotoku Kyan and later under Master Choki Motobu. His Goju-Ryu instructor was Master Chojun Myagi.

Isshinryu is a combination of the best of these styles and weapons techniques and epitomizes the powerful, lightning-fast techniques that enabled the weaponless Okinawans to endure the rein of the Chinese empire and to defeat the sword-wielding Samurai of Japan.

Elite Martial Arts Academy is an affiliated school of the World Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association.
